Keep calm & just workout

I’ve been feeling more sleep deprived lately but it’s been a crazy couple of weeks (mostly with work). I’ve also been trying not to let bad habits slide in when it gets crazy (i.e. stress eating). As I was telling someone a few days ago, I like working out because I sit A LOT – I spent nearly 12 hours in my cubicle Tuesday night. No fun and sitting so much isn’t all that healthy.

(FYI – come workout with me. Added a calendar to my blog.)

Luckily, I’ve fit in some healthy things and tried new classes this week – 30/30 with Lauren at Pedal NYC and Boxing at Exceed with Tony. HIGHLY recommend both classes.

So it’s hasn’t been all work and no fun….

Pure Barre Cosmo Event

As I mentioned previously, Pure Barre teamed up with Cosmopolitan to bring “Fun, Fearless, Fit” events to Pure Barre around the country. I found the event a few weeks ago and immediately signed up! Pure Barre opened up in Carroll Gardens which is so close to me and I love it (just wish it was on the ClassPass – their UWS & UNSQ locations are!). It’s a spacious studio very similar to the Union Square one.
Swag bag! Current issue, some water, lots of teeth whitening products
Anyways, a free class and lots of goodies. Plus I tweeted about it and won a prize bag (which I’m patiently waiting to arrive!).

SELF magazine healthy food tasting

I applied for this last year and didn’t get picked but somehow I got in for this year. SELF is located in the Conde Nast building (they’re owned by CN).
Empty plates!
The food tasting didn’t last very long. I was in the room with my sister for maybe 30 minutes tops tasting some foods. Their healthy food awards will be in the June issue.  Lots of good foods but sadly I don’t know what brands were what.

ClassPass launch party

Formerly known as Classtivity, they rebranded themselves as ClassPass. I personally love CP since I get to try so many different and great classes for a fraction of what it would cost to go to studios individually (10 classes for $99).

ClassPass threw a launch party at Ainsworth in Chelsea Wednesday night. Of course I dragged my sister along, which was hilarious because too many people told me that they thought they were waving at me…but it was really my sister.

That whole half marathon training thing….

The NYC Half is 4 weeks away…except training…like actually running is hard to do….
Last year, it was much easier for me to train outdoors. It just wasn’t that cold out. I didn’t do tons of running for those halfs last year (NYC in March, Nike women in April, Brooklyn Half in May). I trained doing lots of classes and 2 runs a week (tops).

I haven’t even been doing that – just classes. Yikes. It’s on my list of goals for the next few weeks.

In addition to my goals of running – healthy eating. I’ve been forcing myself to take pics of my eats to document it:

Yes those are brownies hiding in those pics. Everything in moderation right?
How do you stay healthy when things get crazy? Any fun plans for the long weekend?
