I had a very lazy weekend with only one workout this whole three day weekend but my legs were tired! Anyways, remember when I said I wanted to run my first trail race? Well it’s happening!
VERT Race Series, the team behind the Cambridge 5k series, is hosting a 5K trail race in the Bronx on Saturday, August 16th.
It starts at 11am in Van Cortlandt Park to benefit Friends of Van Cortlandt Park with a post race after party with free beer and food. Registration includes a t-shirt and admission to the race and after party (in Van Cortlandt Golf Course).
Use my code “RUNTHEJUNGLE” to get $10 off registration. Currently it’s $35 (so with the discount it’s $25 but prices go up: before July 15th: $35, July 16th to August 1st: $38, August 1st to August 15th: $40 – Also code is only good through 8/10 so register soon!). Check out their website for more info.
I’m pretty excited to do this race. I’ve found that most trail races are usually MUCH longer distances so this is perfect for newbies and experienced runners. I only started running on trails (does 5 minutes of running on trails count?) last fall during marathon training (trail running is easier on your joints!) although I always prefer pavement. Either way, it’ll just be a great way to add some variety to my marathon training. Hope to see you there!
