I LOVE the fall. I love fall running. I love fall weather. I love fall snacks (cider donuts anyone?). I love being busy and motivated.
In college, my roommate kept a “quote book”- a book where she kept all her favorite quotes. Therefore, I inherited her love of quotes and words.
I’m trying to keep up my motivation before the semester/work/training just crushes me. So here are my favorite quotes/links that I love because they feel very relevant to my life right now:
- “Success means something different to everyone, and defining it for yourself is the best way to escape the expectations of others.” from Levo’s “5 Career Mantras You Need in Your Life Right Now”
- “So take a look to your right; take a look to your left. Both of those people might change your life.” from LinkedIn’s “How to ace the first day of law school”
- “If someone doesn’t “get” you, they just don’t. Don’t waste too much time trying to explain yourself, your life or your goals to win someone’s support.” from Huffington Post’s “28 Things I Now Know About Life, Work, and Relationships at 28“
Training update
According to my Google calendar, the NYC Marathon is 7 short weeks away, which is absolutely bananas. Only 6 long runs separate me from the NYC Marathon on November 1. Wow.
I’m doing a half-marathon (NYC Runs Half) and volunteering at the NYRR training run this upcoming weekend, then a dumpling eating contest the day before the Bronx 10 mile race (yes I signed up for a food eating contest!!!), then a 20 mile run the weekend after.
Then I’ll be in San Francisco the weekend of Columbus Day, then the Runner’s World Hat Trick (a 5k, 10k & Half-Marathon!) the weekend after, then the Poland Spring 5 mile race the weekend before the marathon.
I finally like I’m into marathon training after weeks of dragging my feet and failing at long runs. I did my longest run this training cycle last Friday night. For the record, NYC at night is amazing and safe (but crowded at 10pm even on the Brooklyn Bridge).
week 9 – week of 9/7/15
Monday – 55 minute Strength class at Uplift + 1.5 hr class at Yoga Shanti
Tuesday – rest day
Wednesday – 45 minute DASH 28 class at Mile High Run Club
Thursday – rest
Friday – 15 miles at night!
Saturday – rest
I went upstate to Poughkeepsie to my parent’s house and for the Hudson Valley Food & Wine Festival. The wine and food pairing was definitely a highlight.
