January is my least favorite month of the year, which is why I seem to always flee the country in January or sign up for all the things. This January was no exception…
If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you….that I was in the Philippines for two weeks! It was my grandma’s 85th birthday so lots of family time, beach time, warm weather, and lots of delicious food.
If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you…that I am on two winter football teams this season. Since my team captain didn’t want to play in the winter, I joined two teams as a free agent. Playing as a free agent is exactly like being the new kid in class. It’s exciting and painful all at the same time.
If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you…that I haven’t completely forgotten about climbing. This month 1) I went to an all women’s climbing event at Metrorock and 2) competed at the Tristate bouldering series. Both things I’ve been eyeing for a while.
I was very happy with the climbing event at Metrorock. Me and my climbing girls went and were very happy with the $15 day passes and free pizza.
Tristate bouldering on the other hand, I wasn’t super thrilled with. The only climbing competitions I’ve done have been with Brooklyn Boulders (BKB). As a climbing gym, I do not love BKB and I do think my membership is a waste of money (seriously please reset things more than once every six weeks PLEASE). HOWEVER, BKB knows how to put on a competition. Tristate bouldering hosts a few competitions at different gyms throughout the winter. My friends did mention of the comps they’ve been to with tristate, this was the one they weren’t happy with because it wasn’t worth the money ($50 to register).
If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you…I signed up for my 25th half marathon – the Flying Pig Half-Marathon! My old roommate recently moved back to Cincinnati and I’ve had my eye on this half for years. Very excited to get back to running (the only running I do now is during football but it’s also winter, which again..not my favorite).
