Happy First Day of Fall! Some Hudson Valley Adventures

It’s officially the first day of fall but it’s basically been fall to me since the day after Labor Day. I’ve already gone apple picking, hung out in a pumpkin patch and done some leaf peeping in the Catskills.

I love this time of year. It’s beautiful out and the weather is just the right amount cool (well actually it was freezing this past weekend). Also, fall hiking is my favorite.

Anyways, after hiking in Fishkill Ridge a few weeks ago, we went to Dubois Farm in Highland, NY (which for my friends from the city – is kinda right next to New Paltz). I haven’t been apple picking in a long time but I loved that they had a bar and cafe to buy drinks and food from. They had something for everyone and also if you’re looking to buy apple cider donuts then this is the place to do it.

Another fall adventure I had was camping in the Catskills. Unlucky for me but there was a frost advisory. I’ve never camped in such cold weather but my sleeping bag saved me a bit. It was still a really good weekend drinking hot bourbon and apple cider over a campfire though. In the morning we checked out Phoenicia for a bit.

We walked around Phoenicia for a bit, looking for a coffee shop but no such luck. Instead a random guy told us to go to the Phoenicia Diner. And We did but the line was way too long (and too many people) so we went to the Woodstock Brewing. I’m glad we did because the drinks and food were delicious and it wasn’t so crowded.

Other fall things I’ve done: dyed my hair back to my natural color. For the past few years I’ve been dying it a dark blonde. It’s a lot of upkeep and it’s pricey but so far I’m liking it. Even if it’s box dye ha.
